Production Blog: Editing

 

 Today I began the long process of editing my video. This took a ton of time throughout my day but I'd say it was well worth it. I started by extracting all the video footage off of my recording phone. Once I got all the separate videos I recorded onto my phone that's when the fun began. The first thing I had to do was edit out bad footage. There were a few instances where something would be caught on camera that I didn't want shown so I had to remove them. One part my finger covered the camera so I had to edit that out, good thing I caught it! After this I began to place the videos in order. I started with the first scene (of course) this one involves a shovel digging up something mysterious. This is later revealed to be the golden calf of legend, but there are a few things that take place in-between these moments. First off there's the scene where my acting comes into play. Here I read an excerpt from the bible, which is a prelude to the events that are about to take place. After this I am seen walking to the dig site in a transition scene. I think this scene helps build the world that's being shown in the film. After this I have a bunch of glamour shots of the calf. These combined with some good music will really show an exciting atmosphere. Of course I am not done with my editing completely yet. I still need to add lots of sound effects. I have already made the opening text, but I have yet to add it to the video. Overall this is going to be really exciting when it finally finishes!

 Props:  I will be creating a commercial for Pepperidge Farms Raisin Bread so of course, the main product will be the bread itself. I will also need to have a dining room set of sorts where the family can eat and enjoy the raisin bread. Costumes: In the commercial the people will be wearing casual clothing since commercial will be marketed to everyday people. It wouldn't be too formal, I would see Polo T-shirts as well as shorts or jeans working well for the advertisement. This commercial will only succeed if its believable so there wont be anything out of character. Schedule:  On 10/23 - 10/24| I will research commercials and marketing strategies for food. On 10/26/20|  I will buy and make props for the commercial filming. Editing Blog

  After filming the commercial I immediately began to work on editing the blog. I opened up photoshop to compile and edit the videos. After compiling all the footage together I realized that I had far too much video. With everything together the video was about one minute and 30 seconds long. Since the video needed to be shortened to about 30 seconds there was a lot that needed to be cut. One scene that was cut was in the beginning which showed the making of the sandwiches. This scene took up around ten seconds so it made sense to be removed. Because of this cut the first scene shown is the rotating shot around the raisin bread sandwich as well as some dialogue that was edited over it. Another deleted scene was at the end where there was a zoom in on the product and a slogan appeared on screen. This was cut in order to save time, and also because the ending was not necessary. After all the cropping and cutting I had it down to around 30 seconds with only 3 scenes from the storyboar...

Music Video

   Here it is, the Yon Yonson music video. After quite a bit of recording and editing the video is finally here to watch. The video is basically a 20 second song looping with slight differences each time. The first time I play the ukulele in the first scene and lip sync the words of the song. After that I use a clip of a passerby asking for Yon Yonson's name.  The kind stranger who asks for Yon Yonson's name is none other than Barack Obama! Due to the lack of actors available for recording I could not do the street passerby scene. As a replacement for this I used video clips from other media and tried to lip sync them with the song lyrics. Unfortunately the lip syncing wasn't perfect due to time constraints, but It worked well enough. In the next scene I play the accordion in the same basic position as the first scene.
