Final Task CCR

Image
For my CCR I decided to do a lets play of Kirby Super Star on the NES while answering some important questions about the Golden Calf film. This video is structured like a YouTube Lets Play video which I think is pretty unique! This video is a little goofy but covers all of the points needed. It also features my father who had a small role in the making of the Golden Calf film. I hope you enjoy this interview/Gameplay with the head of Nougat Films.

Final Task: The Golden Calf

The golden calf... is here. After many weeks of work it is finally finished and available for the world to see. This movie is about researchers stumbling upon the fabled Golden Calf, which is a reference to a bible story. This is only the opening credits but I hope that you enjoy the buildup to the discovery of the calf.

Production Blog: Editing Completed

Today was a great day for the Golden Calf. Yes that's right, the Golden Calf film is now finally completed. It's been many weeks of designing, recording, editing, (and mostly blogging) but it is now ready to be viewed. I spent basically the entire day today working on making every transition clean and nice. I really wanted this opening sequence to both introduce the concept of the movie and to create interest in the topic. Doing both of these at the same time is no easy feat so It took a lot of time to make right. After lots of labor I do think that I managed to pull this off. Another major thing I accomplished was the edition of music. I scoured the internet looking for the most fitting music for my movie. I eventually stumbled upon a REALLY good royalty free music site which I'll have linked in the video description. I went for dramatic tunes to complement the tone of the movie. I used music fading and volume editing so that the music would match perfectly with all of

I spent my weekend doing something that may not sound like work. Well, it was work but it was enjoyable. I spent all weekend watching and studying films. Now this might seem like an excuse to not work on my film but it was quite the opposite. To better my own film I wanted to look at films that I held in high regards. I did this so that I could try to incorporate the elements of things I liked for this movie. I wanted my own movie to feel as real as possible. I really want to try and not have my project look like, well... a school project. For this reason I watched a lot of movies. I watched some things like Captain America and Iron Man which really helped with creating atmosphere. I want to use the kind of music that is used to hype up action scenes in these movies. If I could just channel one percent of the quality in these movies I'd have a masterpiece on my hands. Other than this however I didn't get too much work in on editing. I have some time to work on it of course.

Production Blog: Nothing Edition

Well... I've had a busy few days. Before I begin to regale you all with my tales of things that have nothing to do with filmmaking here is a disclosure. I did not work on my film since last blog so skipping this blog may be in your best interest. Anyways with that out of the way let us commence forth. For the past few weeks a science project due date has been looming over my head progressively getting closer and closer. I've been buckling down and putting all of my work into this project. If I put all my efforts into this film I'd probably be failing a lot of classes right now so its best that I divide up schoolwork. I also have the FSA writing exam to prepare for. This exam is next week so I'm trying to get well rested beforehand. Unfortunately due to a unnecessarily large amount of homework I'll never be able to get any real rest. So as of now I have two major things coming up but that's not all. AICE testing is also coming up soon which I still need to pre

Production Blog: Still Editing

Image
As you can see from the title of this blog  I am still editing. Since the last blog I've worked on a few new things that I can show off. First off I did quite a bit of work on the intro text. The first thing I did was make some basic text stating who the movie was made by and things like that. After that I added some simple transitions to the text for flair. Most of the transitions were just simple fades which worked very well. This is a pretty simplistic themed film so the plain transitions help sell the vibe. I really had a lot of fun making the text in photoshop and then messing with different transitions. Adding stuff like this was a good experience and I learned a few new tricks. After I made this I continued to work on the usual things. As said before I was working on splicing everything together. I polished a lot of footage removing unnecessary time. I also cropped out certain things that didn't need to make the final cut. I am still working on adding sound effects h

Today I began the long process of editing my video. This took a ton of time throughout my day but I'd say it was well worth it. I started by extracting all the video footage off of my recording phone. Once I got all the separate videos I recorded onto my phone that's when the fun began. The first thing I had to do was edit out bad footage. There were a few instances where something would be caught on camera that I didn't want shown so I had to remove them. One part my finger covered the camera so I had to edit that out, good thing I caught it! After this I began to place the videos in order. I started with the first scene (of course) this one involves a shovel digging up something mysterious. This is later revealed to be the golden calf of legend, but there are a few things that take place in-between these moments. First off there's the scene where my acting comes into play. Here I read an excerpt from the bible, which is a prelude to the events that are about to tak
